Flickr Brings New Features UI Tweaks HTML Support and More for Its Android Apps
Flickr Brings New Features UI Tweaks HTML Support and More for Its Android Apps
One of the first things that the Interwebosphere asked of Marissa Mayer when she took over as CEO of Yahoo was to fix Flickr, and to make it great again. Meyer has obviously taken that suggestion to heart as she has already doubled the number of people on the Flickr team, and now the Flickr app for Android has gotten a huge update.
The app has gotten a complete overhaul of the UI, adding the tabbar at the bottom to make it easier to navigate and find interesting content. The Explore feature has been refreshed with swipe gestures to navigate between photos. But, one of the best new options is that the app allows you to choose from any of the camera apps installed on your device to take a picture, so you can stick with the stock camera, or get fancy with an HDR app, or get faux-fancy with Instagram.
Advanced users havent been left out either. The search function now shows HTML content in comments and descriptions, so you can easily link and add information. And, the app can also now edit metadata on images, which is a big one for pro users.
If you want to try out the new Flickr app, its available for free in the Google Play Store.

Fourth beta of iOS 9 2 arrives with new language for Siri and more
Fourth beta of iOS 9 2 arrives with new language for Siri and more
Working in an extremely fast and very different than it did in other versions of its mobile software, Apple has just released on Wednesday, 18, the fourth beta of iOS 9.2 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch; the new version of the system is available for developers and users registered in the beta program. The first beta of iOS 9.2 was released alongside Xcode 7.2 at the end of October.
This new beta version of iOS 9.2 comes exactly one week after the launch of the third version, but has some more clear and specific. The fourth beta brings improvements in Safari View Controller, supporting the new feature numbers synchronization AT & T operator - for you to use your number on other Apple devices. But the best feature of iOS 9.2, although it is not valid for Brazilian users is the addition of support for the Arabic language to Siri.
The built with build number 13C75, arrives for developers and registered users on Apples testing program. For non-developer and is also not testing future updates, the latest official software update from Apple is iOS 9.1, released last month, which includes a number of improvements and additions, such as more than 150 new emojis and improvements the Photos application for new iPhones.
It is worth remembering, however, that if you are not a developer and not registered in the test program, this update for now, is not recommended. You may experience problems with their devices when trying to upgrade it to a version that has not yet been officially released and Apple does not cover defects of this nature.
If everything continues at the same speed, it is very likely that the arrival of iOS 9.2, officer and public way, come the first week of December - our guess is that the update is launched on December 4th (or perhaps in 30th of this month).

Facebook Messenger Gains Support for 1 500 New and Diverse Emoji
Facebook Messenger Gains Support for 1 500 New and Diverse Emoji
Facebook announced yesterday that it’s adding more than 1,500 new emoji to its free mobile Messenger app, bringing a lot more diversity to your communications.
Additionally, Facebook will now also ensure that the emoji you sent from one platform will look exactly the same to the sender, irrespective of the platform — PC, phone or web — he or she uses. Previously, some users reported seeing broken emoji on Messenger on various platforms, or the emoji being replaced with the native emoji set of their devices.
For the iOS Messenger app, Facebook is also introducing a new emoji picker that makes it easier to jump between various emoji categories and find the appropriate emoji that helps you in expressing yourself better.
“Not all platforms have kept up with emoji standards as they’ve evolved—which means sometimes the emoji you wanted to send wasn’t the one that showed up,” explains the company. “Nor are they living up to the gender and skin tone diversity that we see in our world everyday.”
Facebook Messenger is available free of charge on the App Store.

Firefox 9 Faster on PCs all new on tablets
Firefox 9 Faster on PCs all new on tablets
Mozilla is laying claim to big performance improvements for Firefox 9, while Firefox for Android goes in for a shave and a haircut as it gets an entirely different look. Both desktop and Android updates are being released today.
Firefox 9 (download for Windows | Mac | Linux |Android) continues the browsers rapid-release development oscillation, where feature enhancements and performance improvements take the lead in alternating months.
The JavaScript improvement called Type Inference, which Mozilla spent more than a year developing, debuts on the PC version of Firefox. The short version is that sites that heavily rely on JavaScript--like Web apps or sites that render games, video, and 3D graphics--will render much, much faster.
What actually changed is this: A feature in Firefoxs SpiderMonkey JavaScript engine, Type Inference creates type information by both monitoring the types of values as the program runs and analyzing the programs code. The type information then gets used during "just-in-time" compilation to generate more efficient code, and Mozilla says that major benchmarks like its own Kraken test and Googles V8 show the browser running around 30 percent faster.
On Macs, OS X Lion users will finally see support for two-finger swipe gestures, which sounds more offensive than it is. This simply means that if youve got the latest Mac OS, itll be easier for you to jump from site to site. The Mac interface has also been tweaked to match the slight visual changes that arrived in Lion, and multiple monitor support in the browser has been improved.
 |
| Firefox 9 Android debuts a new way to interact with tabs, and ports the browsers signature bigger Back button to the mobile operating system. These screenshots are from the Aurora release of Firefox 9, so there might be slight changes in the stable version. |
Web developers get some attention in Firefox 9, too. The most important developer changes in Firefox 9 are that sites that run Ajax or download large data sets will load faster, and sites can now display content as its being downloaded thanks to new support to chunking XHR requests. While a technical term, the upshot of chunking XHR requests is that developers can build Web sites to receive large amounts of data faster, and thus making the site itself faster to load. JavaScript can also be used to detect a browsers Do Not Track preference, the option that tells Web sites not to use cookies to track a persons browsing behavior. A longer list of Web developer changes in Firefox 9 is available.
Firefoxs new Android tablet interface makes it to the stable version of the browser, and the interface changes are drastic. As I noted when the new look arrived in the Aurora channel in September, the Back button has moved to the location bar, which has been stretched to the right edge of the screen to put Refresh and Bookmark buttons closer at hand. Tabs have been moved to a hidden menu when in portrait mode, and appear much larger than they have before when theyre exposed. There have been some performance gains, too, as Mozilla says that people ought to see faster app load times.
This new look wont be around long, though. Mozilla plans to rebuild its app using native Android code, and the mock-ups show even more changes to the interface. One change that does look like itll stick around is a new sidebar approach to the Awesome Bar, so that when you tap the location bar, tabs for Bookmarks, Open tabs, History, and Sync appear on the side while you scroll in the middle of the window.
There have also been two big improvements to HTML5 support in Firefox for Android. The browser now supports the Input Tag for cameras, which means that developers can build mobile sites and apps that will take pictures and scan bar codes without leaving Firefox. Mozilla created a demo of the Input Tag here.
The second change supports the HTML5 Form Validation API, for automatic form-field validation. Basically, it will be easier to get the browser to validate typed text.
While the future of Firefox for Android lies in abandoning the current interface for the predicted massive speed gains from native Android code, the PC version of Firefox looks to address ongoing add-on compatibility issues, and give the browser a more seamless automatic update experience.

Fb Debuts The virtual Breakup With New gear For Former Flames
Fb Debuts The virtual Breakup With New gear For Former Flames
Breaking up is tough sufficient without having to see your ex’s newfound happiness flung in your face every time you go online to fb. However that doesn’t always suggest you want to unfriend your ex, or block them, both. There need to be a few center ground. These days, fb says itll begin to experiment with new tools a good way to assist people higher control these complicated relationships. The gear could be designed to present users the choice to digitally distance themselves from their former cherished ones while not having to take drastic measures.
In line with the enterprise, facebook will now activate users to strive the brand new gear once they trade their courting reputation at the social community. Later on, they’ll be proven the option to “see much less” from that individual, as well as restrict what that man or woman sees from you. You’ll additionally be able to make changes to past posts and pix.
The concept is to provide the two events some area, inside the virtual feel, following their breakup.
With one of the new options, you’ll have the ability to inform facebook they would love to peer less of the man or woman in question – meaning you gained’t see the person’s posts for your information Feed, and you won’t be prompted via car-hints to message them or tag them in photographs. Before, all fb could do become hold an ex from showing up in its sidebar “photograph reminiscences” module, which was fine, but a long way from sufficient.
Your ex will never be notified you’re making these adjustments, either. That’s a huge plus given that it’s a lot less complicated to infer in case you’ve been unfriended or blocked in recent times, that can take an awkward situation and make it even worse.
Similarly to disappearing an ex’s call and posts out of your information Feed, you may additionally restrict what your ex can see from you, says facebook. On some other screen, you can pick out to hold your modern privacy settings, or you can pick out to hide your posts from the man or woman in question.
Which means the ex might handiest see the posts you’ve explicitly tagged them in, the ones you’ve shared publicly, or those shared on mutual pals’ Timelines. This option additionally limits their capability to peer some of the posts you’re tagged in, as nicely, even if those weren’t items posted with the aid of you.
Ultimately, in what feels like the virtual equivalent of burning old images and love notes, fb will now allow you to move lower back via your preceding posts, and regulate the privateness associated with every or untag yourself from them.
First date? Bam, long gone. Weekend getaway? No extra. Valentine’s dinner? Vanished. It’s nearly like you can pretend it in no way came about. And admittedly, going thru procedure of untagging and adjusting the privacy could be quite cathartic.
You could make those changes on an man or woman basis or in bulk. Meaning you could make the posts visible best to those people who are tagged in them, says facebook.
This latter choice may also assist you modify the privacy of posts and pictures after a breakup but earlier than you befriend a brand new flame. That’s useful, too, as you understand they may, obviously, scour via all of your vintage pictures as they facebook stalk you for the primary time.
If you’ve already broken up with someone and feature adjusted your facebook popularity therefore, you can nevertheless cross back and use these tools, says fb – they’ll be to be had from the assist center at any time.
The gear are rolling out now in the U.S. On cell most effective, and are optionally available. Facebook may make further adjustments earlier than launching them to its wider person base.
Though glaringly the emphasis right here is on dealing with the fallout of failed romantic relationships, these sort of equipment that manual you via the procedure of creating privacy changes to better replicate your actual-global relationships might be welcome in different areas of our digital lives, as nicely. As an example, by using making sure grandparents didn’t see your wild events, or that casual pals couldn’t see so deeply into your life.
However for now, the option to “facebook breakup” is certain to be welcomed by using individuals who want a few space, but aren’t prepared to prohibit their ex from their virtual life so forcefully or permanently.
