Facebook Messenger Adds a New ‘Home’ Section for a New Inbox Experience

Facebook Messenger Adds a New ‘Home’ Section for a New Inbox Experience

Facebook is trying to “reinvent the inbox” with Home, a new tab in the mobile Messenger app designed to make it easier to start conversations with the service’s more than 900 million unique mostly users. David Marcus, Facebook’s Messenger boss, said on Thursday that with the new Home tab his company is aiming to make Messenger simpler to use by presenting more relevant information.

“Up until now, most inbox experiences haven’t kept up with the new ways people connect,” the company explained. “So, we’ve been thinking about how we can make it simpler and easier to find what you want to start a conversation.”

Home brings together your past conversations and various options to connect with others in one central place in the tab area alongside the bottom of the Messenger app.
Home is an obvious way to get people to jump into conversations more often, and make it easier to do so. Facebook says even more changes are on the way, so it will be interesting to see how Messenger evolves in the months ahead.
