Facebook starts to show Your Friends’ and Family’s Posts First

Facebook starts to show Your Friends’ and Family’s Posts First

It looks like that Facebook is making some modification in its program and one of those ever-evolving elements is its News Feed, which is once again undergoing a pretty big shift.

Earlier today Facebook confirmed that over the next few weeks, the News Feed will be changing to alter the way users see content on a daily basis. Specifically the News Feed ranking is changing, and users will now see posts from their friends and family members first. It’s an interesting announcement, considering back in 2015 Facebook made changes to the algorithm behind the News Feed to prioritize friends and family, but apparently it didn’t stick as well as the company would have liked.

Now, as long as everything works the way the social network wants, it means users will see posts from their friends and family members ahead of any other content, including official Facebook Pages and content from publishers.
“[I]f you tend to like photos from your sister,” Facebook VP Adam Mosseri said, “we’ll start putting her posts closer to the top of your feed so you won’t miss what she posted while you were away.”
Publisher’s content won’t be getting ignored entirely, though. Facebook also confirmed that it will be looking at the posts you’ve liked from certain pages, and put that content just behind the posts from your friends and family, so you see more of the stuff you like. If you like a lot of Live videos or photos, those will see more prominence in your News Feed.

Facebook says it isn’t picking the content users see, and it isn’t picking which issues the world should read about:
“Our aim is to deliver the types of stories we’ve gotten feedback that an individual person most wants to see. We do this not only because we believe it’s the right thing but also because it’s good for our business. When people see content they are interested in, they are more likely to spend time on News Feed and enjoy their experience.”
So what do you think ?
